ABOUT THE FOUNDER

This company was founded by Miss Sumaiya Yakubu. She is a young Nigerian hailed from the middle belt.

She obtained a Degree in Physics at Bayero University Kano, Nigeria and a Master’s Degree in Medical Physics

at the University of Surrey, UK.  Sumaiya is a motivated and a curious lady who found herself in love with creations

and innovations. But never thought one day she will venture into skincare products and formulations.

 

The story below hatched Sumaiya’s passion for skincare products and formulations.

 

When Sumaiya was in the UK for her Masters Degree, she was faced with the challenge of finding the right product for her skin. So she researched about products that she was using in Nigeria and why she could not find it in the UK.  That was when she discovered the shocking revelation that most of these products contain harmful amounts of steroids, mercury (calomel) and other harmful chemicals and that was the  reason why they can’t be sold in the UK. So she researched about products that will best suite her skin in the UK and found some products which she bought at a popular shopping mall in UK called House of Fraser. The product was branded organic and she bought it for about £ 250 but after 2 weeks, nothing changed and so she gave them away to her lovely Arabian friend which it worked for.  She kept trying different products but could not find any that suited her skin till she left the UK. Upon her return to Nigeria she started researching and experimenting with ingredients she could source locally and some internationally. The first product she made  was an organic liquid soap which she shared to her friends and family. In less than a week there was a huge change in their skin, no more breakouts or any skin disorders. And she kept working on her formulations till she perfected her products. So she decided to take some online training in organic skincare in Nigeria and to her amazement. All she was thought was how to buy ready made products from the market, remix, package and sell to people as organic products.

Well, most people don’t really mind about what they put on their skin as far as it is labeled organic. But Sumaiya Yakubu cares and not only for her own skin but that of others. So she decided to continue making her products from scratch with the finest raw organic materials\ingredients she could source locally and internationally.

Luscious body works was founded in 2016 by Sumaiya Yakubu and it is situated in Abuja, Nigeria. The company’s sole purpose is to produce and sell organic skincare products.
